Chris Stachtiaris received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronic Technology Engineering from the University of Akron in 1986 and obtained his Juris Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1998. Mr. Stachtiaris put his undergraduate engineering degree to work at Hewlett-Packard, first as a Customer Service Engineer in Toledo, Ohio then as a Sales Engineer in Cleveland, Ohio and finally in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. During his career at Hewlett-Packard he received several awards for outstanding sales and customer satisfaction performance. Mr. Stachtiaris was accepted into the University of Pittsburgh School of Law's flex-time program and began his legal studies while continuing his sales career with Hewlett-Packard; he was admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in September of 1999.
Prior to joining Raphael Ramsden & Behers, P.C., Mr. Stachtiaris was a shareholder with the firm of Mohajery & Stachtiaris, PC. Mr. Stachtiaris concentrates his practice in the area of Family Law and brings a unique perspective to his practice. Embarking on a career in law after a successful career as a business professional, Mr. Stachtiaris brings a diverse background to the profession and his practice, giving him a special appreciation for the law and an understanding of its impact on clients dealing with family law issues.
Mr. Stachtiaris is trained in the Collaborative Law process, an alternative to the existing processes of mediation and court based litigation, for resolving family law issues. Mr. Stachtiaris believes that the Collaborative process empowers those experiencing divorce, or related issues such as custody, by keeping control of the process and ultimately their own future. Mr. Stachtiaris is committed to making this the process of choice in Southwestern Pennsylvania. He currently sits on the Executive Committee as an At-Large Officer, a former Secretary, and a founding member of the Collaborative Law Association of Southwestern Pennsylvania (CLASP). Mr. Stachtiaris is also a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.
Mr. Stachtiaris teaches Community Education classes at the Community College of Allegheny County on Pennsylvania Divorce Law and the Collaborative Divorce Process. He has also been an instructor for the National Business Institute; presenting continuing legal education seminars on various topics of Pennsylvania divorce law to attorneys in the Pittsburgh area. He is also a frequent speaker at "A Prudent Approach to Divorce" and "Second Saturday" financial seminars for women going through the divorce process.
Mr. Stachtiaris is a member of the Allegheny County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. He is also a member of the Family Law Section of the Allegheny County Bar Association, and was elected to a three-year term on the Family Law Section Council in 2005. Mr. Stachtiaris served as co-chair of the section's Professionalism Committee, providing the section with regular reports on ethical issues that effect lawyers practicing family law. As co-chair he also co-developed and presented a seminar on motions practice in the Family Court. Mr. Stachtiaris has been nominated to another three year term to serve on the Council of the ACBA Family Law Section, beginning in the Fall of 2010.
